Hiking Author Speaks on Campus

coachella valley, california hiking clubPhililp Ferranti is the founder of the Coachella Valley Hiking Club and author of 10 books on hiking.

On Sunday he visited the Oliphant Auditorium at the Palm Desert Campus of the California State University San Bernardino and encouraged 40 people to take up the hobby of hiking.

Philip, who has hiked every weekend for the past 20 years, is very aware of the health benefits for those who are a part of a hiking club.  He spent most of Sunday afternoon stressing the distinctions found in Coachella Valley and letting folks know how lucky they are to be in an area so geographically diverse.

One of Philip’s books, 140 Great Hikes in and Near Palm Springs has recently been enhanced with extra maps and pictures and will be available in book stores soon.  Check out the full article written by Victor Morales for the Desert Sun.

Great to know this about Iowa City. I was writing about Iowa today for my work and I was trying to find ways to promote the state -- I think it must be a great state for bicycling.
