Handmade Bicycle Show

custom bike builders show in Portland, Oregon

The Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association is a group of custom bike builders who design, build, and maintain different types of homemade bicycles.

This weekend about 40 members of this group will showcase their work at the Staver Locomotive for the Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show.

This group of custom builders is diverse, specializing in different styles of bikes, from five-speed commuter bikes to bikes built to deliver kegs of beer, pizza, and sound systems.

And business seems to be booming. The personal attention, quality and craftmanship of their custom bikes is widely appreciated by the Portland community, which keeps their business growing even in a down economy.

This weekend’s show will raise money to help develop new programs for the Association and its members. Check out the full article by John Foyston at The Oregonian.  Photo credit to Jamie Francis at The Oregonian.

Great to know this about Iowa City. I was writing about Iowa today for my work and I was trying to find ways to promote the state -- I think it must be a great state for bicycling.
