Getting Paid to Camp
October 28, 2009
If you love camping so much that you would do it all year long, then this post is for you. Many campgrounds are offering employment to people who love to camp. Think about it — getting paid while enjoying the great outdoors.
Most campgrounds are busiest during the spring and summer months and hire high school students through retirees to help with either office work or as lifeguards. Another seasonal position is that of an environmental educator, which is someone who leads classes on different subjects for people staying at the campground. Campground hosts are also popular positions, however are typically unpaid.
There are also positions offered year-round, as some people enjoy camping in colder weather. Most campgrounds will use less staff during the colder months but still need the basic duties covered. Campground managers are usually in charge of all of the campground operations when there is no need for the seasonal staff. Park rangers are employed by the state and federal forests and work year-round on protected lands.
