Fall has got to be the best time to check out the Eastern Sierra region in Mono County, California, and the surrounding hills of Sierra Nevada.  In addition to the beautiful landscapes of the area and the changing colors of fall, the temperature of the Great Basin is pleasant and perfect for high-energy activities.

The area is filled with national forests, monuments and scenic areas, as well as wilderness.  Whether you enjoy mountain biking, backpacking, climbing, kayaking or hiking, there is plenty of room for it all.

Pete Gauvin at the Adventure Sports Journal wrote a recent article which goes through all of the sports you can enjoy while in this area, including where to find the relaxing hot springs and local places to eat.
