Scavenger Hike Adventures in Shenandoah Park

shenandoah national park hiking adventures

Scavenger Hike Adventures is a new hiking guide for Shenandoah National Park and is filled with adventures along the park trails.  Kat and John LaFevre, both avid hikers, wrote the guide to encourage children and adults to find a renewed love for the outdoors.

The guide takes you through 14 different hikes along Skyline Drive.  Hikers use clues found in the book to search for treasures, such as a waterfall, a tree that smells like root beer, or grapevines that look like pretzels.  The idea is to get hikers to discover things they would have never seen or noticed, even if they have hiked that particular trail before.  As the hikers find different treasures, they earn points and a printed certificated at the end of each hike.  Check out the Shenandoah National Park Association bookstore or website for a copy of this book.

Great to know this about Iowa City. I was writing about Iowa today for my work and I was trying to find ways to promote the state -- I think it must be a great state for bicycling.
